We like to tell you the truth. Unfortunately unless your SME fits into some pretty distinct categories (like GPs, dental surgeries, legal practices and IFAs), you're unlikely to be able to sell your business for any significant value if your EBITDA is less than £1m. In which case you have 3 options when considering your business exit:

Keep working happily and direct the revenue towards your retirement vehicles.

If you want to exit right now, but don't want to be involved in the potentially arduous and emotionally draining experience, find someone to wind it up for you, for example via a MVL.

Grow your business, either organically and/or via mergers and acquisitions to the point that it's EBITDA is £1m+, then exit.
